The Nameless #4

The cover of this 1997 Image series delivers a visceral confrontation — a massive, black-armored creature with jagged teeth and a single glowing eye looms over a gold-skinned warrior who defiantly raises a weapon in its face. Phillip Hester's pencils and Bruce McCorkindale's inks give the image a raw, kinetic energy that captures the dark, intense tone of the series. Joe Pruett's The Nameless was clearly swinging for bold, horror-tinged superhero storytelling, and this fourth issue suggests the stakes haven't let up one bit.
