The Mighty Thor #5
In "The Prisoner-- the Power-- and-- Dr. Doom!", Thor finds himself caught between two worlds: a mission to stop Doctor Doom’s hidden missile silos in Latveria and a summons to Asgard by Odin, who grants him leave to return to Midgard. Meanwhile, Doom, intrigued by a newspaper article about Dr. Blake’s plastic surgery expertise, kidnaps him and demands a cure for his disfigured face—only to be met with horror when Blake admits he can’t help. With Blake imprisoned and Doom’s plans escalating, Thor escapes, narrowly avoids a missile strike, and prepares to confront the villain head-on. Written by Stan Lee and brought to life with dynamic art by John Buscema and John Romita, with inks by Joe Sinnott and lettering by Artie Simek, this 1983 UK issue features a cover by Buscema and Sinnott that captures the clash of wills and the looming threat of war.

Dr. Blake discovers that Doctor Doom has been building sophisticated missile silos in Latveria and decides to remove their threat. However, as Thor, he is summoned to Asgard by Odin. Odin gives him permission to return to Midgard to carry out his mission. Meanwhile, coincidentally, Doom reads a newspaper article about Dr. Blake who, it seems, is now an expert in plastic surgery. Doom kidnaps Blake and orders him to fix his face. Doom removes his mask. Blake recoils - - he cannot repair Doom’s face. Blake is imprisoned, changes into Thor, escapes, evades a missile, and resolves to battle Doom.
