Written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated primarily by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito, these tales follow the adventures of the sentient robots—Gold, Iron, Lead, Tin, Mercury, and Platinum—and their creator, Doctor Will Magnus, as they battle threats like the Gas Gang and the Humanoid Horde. The hardcover edition preserves the classic Silver Age artwork and storytelling in a deluxe format.
In "The Day Doc Turned Robot!", the Metal Men host a children's show, but Tina notices a lone boy named Timmy who won’t join in—only to learn he’s blind, his mother hoping future science will one day help. When Timmy gets a surprise ride on a rocket, a burst of cosmic energy strands the team on a desolate planet where a haunted amusement park hides malevolent robots that once destroyed their creators. Written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated by Ross Andru with inks by Mike Esposito, this 2013 archive issue features a cover by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito.
When the Metal Men host a children's show, Tin notices a lone boy named Timmy who won’t join in—only to learn he’s blind, his mother hopeful that future science might one day heal him. With Tin taking Timmy under her wing, the day turns wild when a sudden cosmic storm strands the pair and the Metal Men on a forgotten planet, where a haunted amusement park hides a terrifying secret: the once-playful rides are now malevolent robots that turned on their creators.
In "The Robot Juggernaut!," the Metal Men and Billy find themselves stranded on a hostile new world where towering robot juggernauts hunt them down, seeking to melt them into scrap. As the team races to survive, they must forge a desperate alliance through alloying their bodies—pushing their limits in a fight for both survival and a return home.
When the Metal Men are fused together during a clash with the Robot Juggernauts, their attempt to separate in the smelter goes awry—impurities twist their personalities, turning them into something unpredictable. With their usual composure lost, Dr. William Magnus must call upon the Gas Gang—Helium, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, and Chloroform—to contain the chaos and restore the team to their true selves.
When the Metal Men repurpose Dr. Yes’s robot using a responsometer, they hope it’ll lead them to the elusive villain—but Dr. Yes has other plans. With the help of an unnamed friend of Doc Magnus, the team must face off against their retooled foe, only to find themselves still no closer to uncovering the truth behind the mad scientist’s latest scheme.
