“Bad Ideas”

In "Bad Ideas," Brainiac 5's well-intentioned attempt to help Superman uncover his origins takes a dangerous turn when a miscalculation strands him, Superman, and a group of Legionnaires on pre-humanoid Krypton—before the planet was ever inhabited. Written by Scott Beatty and illustrated by Ethen Beavers, with colors by Heroic Age and letters by John J. Hill, this 2008 issue delivers a tense, time-bending adventure grounded in legacy and consequence. The cover by Alexander Serra captures the eerie stillness of a world before life.

To try to make up for what his ancestor Brainiac did to Superman, Brainiac 5 attempts to give Superman some answers about where he came from by taking him and some Legionnaires to Krypton in the past. But he overshoots his target and ends up on Krypton with a broken time bubble before it was populated by humanoids.
