The Legion of Super-Heroes #259
In "Psycho War," the Legion of Super-Heroes faces the terrifying Psycho-Warrior, a man whose mind was shattered by a space accident, leaving him with devastating psychic abilities. As he targets Superboy with a vision of his parents' fate, the emotional toll forces Saturn Girl to make a difficult choice—using hypnosis to ensure Superboy never returns to the Legion, sparing him a burden he can't bear. Written by Gerry Conway and illustrated by Joe Staton, with colors by Gene D'Angelo and inks by Dave Hunt, this 1980 issue features a haunting cover by Dick Giordano.

The Legion battles the Psycho-Warrior, a man driven mad by an accident in space that gave him fantastic mental powers. The villain shows Superboy how his parents will die. He won't remember the knowledge of his parents' death when he goes back to the 20th Century but would remember that terrible moment every time he returns to the 30th. To spare him that, Saturn Girl plants a hypnotic command so that Superboy will never again join the Legion.
