IDW's dark fantasy series reaches its fifth chapter with a cover that earns every bit of its foreboding title. A sword-wielding human warrior crouches in the foreground, steeled for combat, while behind him a determined woman stands her ground — and looming over them both is a massive, grinning reptilian creature whose presence dominates the composition like a nightmare given flesh. Gaunt, skeletal figures stalk the shadowy background, and Chris Wildgoose's linework, brought to vivid life by colorists MSassyK and Diana Sousa, gives the whole scene a rich, pulpy atmosphere that feels like G. Willow Wilson's world-building firing on all cylinders.
