Dynamite Entertainment announced the series on October 15, 2024, positioning it as a spiritual follow-up to their well-received Space Ghost revival — another Hanna-Barbera action-adventure property revived under the same publisher banner. Writer Tom Sniegoski, best known to Dynamite readers as the most prolific contributor to the Vampirella mythos, reunited with his Young Hellboy collaborator Craig Rousseau to form the series' core creative team; both cited a personal, childhood connection to the cartoon as a driving motivation. Issue #6, shipping August 6, 2025, continues the ongoing series in which colorist Omi Remalante Jr. also plays a confirmed role. The Dynamite series is the first standalone ongoing comic built entirely around the Herculoids — earlier appearances were limited to anthology slots in Gold Key's Hanna-Barbera Super TV Heroes (1968–69), a Marvel TV Stars issue (1978), and rotating appearances in DC's Cartoon Network Presents (1997–99).
