Dynamite Entertainment announced the series on October 15, 2024, following an expansion of its license with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products that was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 — a deal that simultaneously greenlit titles for The Herculoids, Blue Falcon & Dynomutt, Ben 10, Captain Planet, and Thundarr the Barbarian. Tom Sniegoski, whose Dynamite résumé includes an extensive run on Vampirella, was paired with artist Craig Rousseau — his collaborator from the Young Hellboy miniseries — and both creators publicly cited childhood fandom of the original cartoon as their primary motivation. Issue #1 was solicited in Diamond's December 2024 Previews catalog and shipped in February 2025, with #10 completing the run on November 26, 2025, confirming a ten-issue limited series that the Hanna-Barbera Wiki records as spanning 2025–2026.
