Scribbly Jibbet strikes up a chat with a pair of kids in the radio show lobby, puffing up about being a cartoonist—only to learn, after they’ve gone, that the boy and girl he was talking to were none other than Bobby Breen and Deanna Durbin.

Scribbly Jibbet stumbles into his first Cartoonist's Dinner, a glamorous affair hosted by Ving Parker and broadcast live on the radio—only to be stunned when he’s suddenly announced as the next speaker. With Mrs. Jibbet, Dinky Jibbet, and the ever-stoic Edward (Ving’s chauffeur) in the audience, Scribbly’s panic is only matched by the presence of real cartooning legends like Milt Gross and Harry Hershfield, all watching.

Scribbly Jibbet is dragged to the movies by his younger brother Dinky, who’s already bored and ready to leave after just a few minutes. With Mrs. Jibbet watching from the sidelines, Scribbly tries to keep Dinky entertained—but the boy’s sudden urge to go home sets off a chain of small, comedic chaos.
