“The Spider and the Fly!”

Issue five of Impact Comics' The Fly puts the hero in a genuinely precarious spot — the cover by Mike Parobeck and Paul Fricke shows the Fly ensnared in a green, web-covered backdrop while a large, helmeted figure looms in the foreground, the tagline "Trapped in the Web of Arachnus!" making the stakes abundantly clear. A smaller winged figure hovers in the upper corner, adding to the sense that this confrontation is bigger than a one-on-one affair. Len Strazewski and Mike Parobeck were crafting some sharp superhero work for Impact's 1991 lineup, and this spider-themed showdown looks like a highlight of their run.
