Part of DC's 2012 New 52 relaunch, The Flash #5 features a cover by Francis Manapul that crackles with kinetic energy — the Scarlet Speedster surges forward in a burst of lightning while a restrained, powerfully built man strains against what appears to be some kind of mechanical harness in the background. The tagline "To Save His Friend, Many Will Die!" sets a genuinely urgent tone, hinting at the moral weight waiting inside. Manapul and Brian Buccellato were already making this one of the most visually striking titles of the New 52 era, and this issue looks like no exception.
