This January 1983 issue of The Flash presents a genuinely striking cover by Carmine Infantino and Rodin Rodriguez: the Scarlet Speedster stands on the right, facing a swirling, otherworldly vortex from which multiple blonde figures seem to writhe and emerge, while a man in a blue suit looks on from the left — and most compellingly, a young boy on crutches wearing a Flash-logo shirt stands front and center, defiant against the chaos. The title "A Fast Way to Die!" promises high stakes, and the cover's moody black backdrop gives the whole scene an unsettling, urgent energy. Cary Bates scripts, with interior art by Carmine Infantino and Dennis Jensen — a strong creative team firing on all cylinders in the early 1980s DC universe.
