“If”

In "If," Geronimo finds himself wrongly accused of murder by a trio of nuns—only to uncover a deeper deception when the real nuns are revealed to be imprisoned. Written by Tony Tallarico and illustrated with sharp detail by José Delbo, this 1979 Western thriller unfolds with a twisty, high-stakes plot where loyalty is forged in deception. The story’s bold narrative, anchored by Tallarico’s writing and Delbo’s expressive art, builds tension as Geronimo races to expose the truth before the real criminals vanish into the desert.

Geronimo is captured by three nuns who accuse him of killing their stage driver. He is freed by a hidden person and discovers that the real nuns are imprisoned. They explain that the wives of four outlaws have held up the stage for gold to bribe the sheriff and prevent their husbands being hung. Geronimo plays along and drives the stage. The women break their husbands out of prison, shoot the sheriff and pin the murder on Geronimo. He proves the nuns are fake and gains the town's help to capture the women. The escaping men make a wrong turn and die driving over a cliff.
