Juan and Archimedes save Heavy Rain from dying in a cactus patch. He tells how he escaped slavery in Sam Goldman's mine. Juan tells Heavy Rain to hide, recover and get help just as Juan and Archimedes are captured by Goldman's men. Juan is sent to work in the mine, but Archimedes pretends he does not know Juan and sympathises with Goldman's white supremacy. Archimedes works out how communicate with Juan and they plan for the slaves to revolt. On the agreed day, Heavy Rain also arrives with an Indian army. Through careful planning and some luck, the slaves claim freedom.
