The Exterminators #27

Vertigo's offbeat pest-control series delivers another wryly unsettling chapter with "Raising Che." Philip Bond's cover frames a young man in a red-starred beret — equal parts revolutionary and grocery-store regular — clutching a melon in one hand and what appears to be an inhaler in the other, the mundane supermarket backdrop making the image all the more quietly strange. Simon Oliver and John Lucas keep this darkly comic series humming along in fine 2008 form.
