“Insurgency: Conclusion”

This Vertigo series earned Wizard Magazine's praise for plot twists that rival Lost, and issue #10 — "Insurgency: Conclusion" — delivers a cover that captures its delightfully grimy world perfectly. Philip Bond's artwork pulls the viewer underground, where two Bug-Bee-Gone exterminators descend into a cavernous tunnel system beneath a city street, their yellow company truck visible above while a magnified, menacingly detailed cockroach looms in an inset circle overhead. The cross-section view, stretching from the subway level all the way up to the street, gives the whole scene a wonderfully unsettling sense of just how much is going on beneath our feet.
