While Sham is dormant, regenerating to heal injuries from the previous issue, Dr. Harden siphons energy from him and chemicals from the body of the Angela Krell clone "to create another special agent". The rest of the team investigates a featureless monolith identical to one that had recently caused a massive explosion. They are unaware that it is part of a massive extortion scheme by Landon Venture, an old friend of Lucius Krell.
