“The Black Box”

In "The Black Box," the DNAgents face a mysterious monolith that echoes the destruction of a previous incident, while Dr. Harden secretly exploits Sham’s recovery to craft a new agent using the Angela Krell clone’s remains. As the team investigates the enigmatic structure, they remain blind to the larger scheme unfolding—Landon Venture, a former associate of Lucius Krell, has begun a calculated campaign of intimidation. Written by Mark Evanier and brought to life by Will Meugniot’s art, with Al Gordon’s inks and a vibrant palette from Jo Meugniot, Tom Luth, and Vic Dal Chele, the issue blends suspense and sci-fi intrigue. The cover by Will Meugniot and Al Gordon captures the eerie stillness of the monolith, hinting at the danger beneath.

While Sham is dormant, regenerating to heal injuries from the previous issue, Dr. Harden siphons energy from him and chemicals from the body of the Angela Krell clone "to create another special agent". The rest of the team investigates a featureless monolith identical to one that had recently caused a massive explosion. They are unaware that it is part of a massive extortion scheme by Landon Venture, an old friend of Lucius Krell.
