“Sons & Lovers”

The Demon looms enormous and menacing — all fangs, red eyes, and outstretched clawed wings — over two uniformed police officers who stand their ground amid a blood-soaked floor, one raising a pistol and the other gripping a baton, with a fallen body at their feet. John McCrea's cover for this September 1994 issue perfectly captures the series' blend of supernatural dread and street-level danger. With Garth Ennis writing and Chris Alexander on interior art, issue #51's "Sons & Lovers" looks to be another darkly entertaining chapter in this run.
