The Demon #52

John McCrea's cover for this November 1994 issue says it all — Etrigan the Demon charges front and center in his spiked red-and-gold form, claws outstretched, while surrounding him in a swirl of dark capes are a brooding cloaked figure, a man in sunglasses holding a glowing orb, a woman cradling an infant, an older man in blue, and a wide-eyed face lurking in the shadows. It's a confident ensemble composition that sets a suitably ominous tone for "Suffer the Children, Part One." Garth Ennis and John McCrea were clearly building toward something with real stakes, and this cover makes the anticipation hard to resist.
