The Demon #1

The Demon bursts onto the scene in this 1990 DC series launch, with Val Semeiks and Denis Rodier's cover depicting Etrigan mid-leap, fanged mouth wide open in a fierce snarl, his red costume and blue cape billowing as he erupts from a churning mass of skulls and skeletal remains bathed in sickly green energy. It's a striking first impression — the image radiates menace and supernatural power without holding anything back. Alan Grant teams with Semeiks and Rodier for "Lost Souls," and if this cover is any indication, this series has a gloriously dark sense of style right from the start.
