The Defenders #125

The New Defenders assemble in force on this November 1983 cover, with Beast crouching large in the foreground, a green-costumed woman at his side, Angel soaring overhead in his white-and-red costume, and a red-skinned winged figure and a rider on a white horse charging in behind — all rendered with real energy by penciler Carl Potts and inker Bill Sienkiewicz. The team's roster feels genuinely eclectic here, and the moody dark backdrop gives the whole composition a sense of urgency that matches the playfully offbeat story title, "Hello, I Must Be Going. (Or...Mad Dogs and Elvishmen!)". Written by J. M. DeMatteis with interior art by Don Perlin, this milestone 125th issue is a satisfying showcase for one of Marvel's most unconventional super-teams.
