The Books of Magic #39

From DC's Vertigo line, The Books of Magic #39 brings writer John Ney Rieber and artist Peter Gross back to the mysteries surrounding young Tim Hunter in this August 1997 installment titled "Solitaire." Michael Wm. Kaluta's cover art draws the eye down a surreal corridor of scattered numbers and question marks, where an older man with a cane and a young boy walk toward a large illustrated panel emblazoned with the words "Can a man live forever?" — a haunting question that frames whatever awaits inside.
