The Books of Faerie: Auberon's Tale #2

The tagline says it all — "A Realm Divided" — and the cover of this September 1998 DC/Vertigo issue delivers on that promise with striking intensity. Two armored fae warriors, one green-skinned and towering with a dagger raised, the other blue-skinned and smaller but sword in hand, clash in a rocky, root-tangled hollow, with a third armored figure lurking in the shadows behind them. Writer Bronwyn Carlton and artist Peter Gross continue "Auberon's Tale" here in part two, subtitled "The Pretender," with a cover by Hermann Mejia that captures the rich, painterly texture of a faerie realm on the brink of conflict.
