"Victims of the Twin Scourges" follows a wild couple, Lydia Jurgen and Simon Shay, who strike down an elderly man while speeding recklessly through a village and leave him to die; moments later, they encounter a roadblock of mysterious tiny red creatures from Satan's handbook and are forced down the wrong road, where a curse—delivered by the old man's vengeful spirit—causes their car to crash into a ravine. In a separate story, a tyrannical nobleman curses his son to wander as a poor gypsy; when the son's caravan is struck by a runaway train, a woman named Nita finds a portrait of the dead man and purchases it, only to discover he was actually a legionnaire killed in battle years earlier, whose ghost has been haunting her shop—revealing that the curse's supernatural torment extends even beyond death.
