About this Collection

The Backstagers Vol. 3 collects the final issues of James Tynion IV and Rian Sygh's acclaimed series, following the adventures of the all-boys theater crew as they navigate the magical, labyrinthine world backstage. This volume concludes the storylines involving the mysterious doors and the supernatural challenges that threaten their production, emphasizing themes of friendship and creativity.

In "Valentine's Intermission," Beckett, overwhelmed by the season’s romantic excess, ventures into the mysterious Backstage seeking a lamp said to drain emotion—only to encounter Mr. Rample, a figure who shares quiet memories of lost love across time. Back in the real world, Bailey Brentwood, spending Valentine’s alone, quietly asks Beckett if she can join him in his booth for a horror movie. Written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Rian Sygh, with colors by Walter Baiamonte and letters by Jim Campbell, the issue’s cover by Veronica Fish captures the tender, melancholic mood of a night when connection finds its way in unexpected places.

Angered by so much display of romantic love, and by having to light the performance of plays about the same, Beckett enters the Backstage to find a lamp that drains all emotions. He meets Mr. Rample, who sends time each Valentine's remembering a long-lost love, and returns to his booth without the lamp. Bailey Brentwood, alone on Valentine's, asks Beckett if she can join him in his booth as he watches a horror movie.
