In "Archie Marries Veronica: 'The Proposal' (Part 1 of 6)," Archie faces a pivotal moment as he graduates college with the gang, celebrating at Pops with one final jam session as the Archies. With Veronica planning to move to Paris, Archie makes a bold decision that shocks everyone—proposing to Betty in front of their friends, leaving Veronica stunned and heartbroken. The story, written by Michael Uslan and illustrated by Stan Goldberg with inks by Bob Smith, color by Glenn Whitmore, and letters by Jack Morelli, captures the emotional weight of choices and changing paths, all set against the familiar backdrop of Riverdale. Coming back from Memory Lane, Archie is again graduating college with the gang. The graduates all meet at Pops for one last fling together, including an impromptu session of "the Archies" playing together for the last time. Veronica is excited about traveling to Europe and running one of her dad's businesses in Paris. Archie accepts that he'll never be in her class and procedes with his life plan: he proposes to Betty in front of everyone. A stunned and hurt Veronica leaves the Chocklit Shop as Betty readily agrees. Then the two inform their respective parents of the impending wedding.
