The All New Atom #5

The cover of The All New Atom #5 says it all — a tiny, blue-and-red suited Atom is tumbling helplessly into the gaping maw of what the tagline identifies as M'Nagalah, an enormous, unsettling creature whose wide green eyes and shock of red hair fill the entire frame. Ladrönn's cover art makes brilliant use of scale, putting the Atom's predicament in vivid, vertiginous perspective. With Gail Simone writing and Eddy Barrows on interior art, this January 2007 issue of DC's "Redline Shift" chapter looks like a genuinely wild ride for Ryan Choi.
