The Adventures of Bob Hope #83

On the rooftop ledge of a city building, a caricatured Bob Hope stands frozen in his trademark blue suit, deadpanning "Run — er — I forgot my track shoes!" while two menacing thugs and a blonde woman lean out a window urging him to flee — one of the crooks even brandishing a revolver. Mort Drucker's expressive linework wrings every drop of comedy from the perilous standoff, capturing Hope's gift for playing the oblivious coward with pitch-perfect timing. It's a charming snapshot of DC's long-running humor series at its most entertainingly absurd.
