The Adventures of Bob Hope #51

DC's long-running comedy series delivers another laugh in this 1958 issue, with a cover by Owen Fitzgerald that perfectly captures the gag: a Bob Hope stand-in, decked out in a cowboy marshal's hat and star badge, is so busy sharing a smooch with a blonde in a pink blouse that he completely ignores a frantic bystander bursting out of a nearby café shouting about a bank robbery in progress — gunshots and all. The marshal's breezy quip, "One thing I can't stand is a tattle-tale!", says everything about this title's cheerful, irreverent tone, and Fitzgerald's clean, expressive linework makes the comedic timing land just right.
