The Adventures of Bob Hope #31

A mountain-climbing misadventure takes center stage on this February–March 1955 DC issue, with Bob Hope dangling precariously off a snowy ledge while a group of determined young women in hiking gear try to haul him back up — and a very worried-looking hound dog watches the whole ordeal unfold. Bob's boastful speech bubble ("It's a good thing I came along! Otherwise, you girls would NEVER have reached the top!") perfectly captures the cheerful self-delusion that made this series such a delight. Owen Fitzgerald's expressive linework brings every panicked face and flailing limb to life with real comic charm.
