This 1953 DC gem finds Bob Hope — jacket helpfully labeled "Bob Hope, Famous American Motion Picture Director" — on a ocean liner deck, gleefully hamming it up with a woman in red who asks if he's really that famous director, while he plays innocent with a "How did you know?" Owen Fitzgerald's clean, expressive linework captures the gag perfectly, with two more sunbathing women lounging in the background to round out the breezy shipboard scene. Light, witty, and thoroughly charming, it's a fine snapshot of mid-century comedy comics done with real craft.
