The Adventures of Bob Hope #21

DC's humor series puts Bob Hope squarely in the wrestling ring for issue #21, and Owen Fitzgerald's cover sets up the comedy perfectly: Bob, sporting a robe emblazoned "Masked Marvel Hope" and a pair of dark glasses as his disguise, faces off against a hulking caveman-style wrestler while his manager looks on skeptically and a blonde woman informs him, deadpan, that she can't see a thing. The cover copy promises "a headlock, a hammerlock, and a heavenly honey" in a hilarious "Wrassle-Hassle," and the scene delivers that goofy charm in spades. For ten cents in 1953, this was the kind of light, laugh-ready entertainment that made The Adventures of Bob Hope such a reliable treat.
