The Beautiful Baby Contest has never looked quite like this — Neal Adams delivers a wonderfully absurd cover scene featuring a Frankenstein's-monster mother in a polka-dot dress pushing a baby carriage labeled "Goo-Goo Von Wolfmann," whose occupant is very much a werewolf. A Dracula-type judge weighs his impossible options while horrified onlookers react in the background, and the speech bubbles nail the comic dilemma perfectly: award the prize or face both a monster and its mother. DC's 1967 humor comics were clearly in fine, delightfully strange form.
