Thanos #6 delivers one of 2017's most striking covers: a titanic, blazing phoenix entity looms from above, wings spread wide in a torrent of golden fire, while a battered, armored Thanos is driven to his knees amid crackling blue lightning and rubble below. The sheer scale of the confrontation — cosmic force bearing down on the Mad Titan at his most vulnerable — is rendered with tremendous weight by Mike Deodato's cover art and Frank Martin's scorching color work. Jeff Lemire's run continues to put Thanos in genuinely dire straits, and this image alone makes a compelling case for what's at stake.
