Thanos #4
From writer Jeff Lemire and cover artist Mike Deodato, this fourth chapter of Marvel's 2017 Thanos series delivers one of the most striking images in the run: a towering, armored Thanos standing dominant over a battered, grimacing version of himself amid a fiery wasteland of debris and destruction. The doubling of the Mad Titan — one triumphant, fist raised, the other snarling and beaten — raises immediate, fascinating questions about what forces could pit Thanos against himself. Colorist Frank Martin Jr.'s deep crimson atmosphere gives the whole scene a hellish intensity that makes this issue hard to put back on the shelf.
