Terry-Toons Comics #57 from June 1947 delivers a cheerful, self-referential moment: Mighty Mouse strolls along in his yellow-and-red super suit, contentedly reading a Mighty Mouse comic book, while behind him a small mouse perches on a wooden seesaw with a lanky, mustachioed villain in a red jacket and a dapper fox lurking nearby. It's a wonderfully playful cover that captures the lighthearted spirit of the Terry-Toons cast, and at a dime a copy, this was pure animated-cartoon fun translated straight to the comics page.
