Terry-Toons Comics #23

A bucket of yellow paint teeters ominously atop a ladder as Sourpuss the cat strolls right beneath it, shrugging off a small companion's warning with a breezy "So, what could happen?" — setting up a perfectly timed bit of cartoon mischief. The warm, rubbery character designs and bright colors capture everything that made Timely's funny-animal comics such cheerful ten-cent entertainment in 1944. It's a genuinely charming snapshot of mid-1940s comic humor at its most playful.
