“Death Race”

In "Death Race," Leonardo faces off against a mysterious aquatic she-creature in the depths of the sewers, only to be thrown into a chaotic chase by a colossal snapping turtle. Trapped in a garbage-strewn nest with a strange, large egg, Leo must use the egg as leverage when the creature returns—just as Mikey, Raph, and Casey close in. The issue builds to a sudden collapse, burying the she-creature and her egg under the rubble, while a distant threat looms: the killer robot arrives in New York. Written and illustrated by Jim Lawson, with inks by Eric Talbot, colors by Eric Vincent, and letters by Mary Kelleher, the cover by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman captures the chaos in vivid, dynamic detail.

Leonardo confronts and battles the aquatic she-creature, but is interrupted by a massive snapping turtle that chases him deeper into the sewers. While fleeing, an explosion pushes Leo into a garbage-filled nest with a large egg. When confronted again by the she-creature, Leo uses the egg as a bargaining chip. As Mikey, Raph, and Casey arrive, the ceiling caves due to the weight of the giant turtle, which falls, burying both the she-creature and her egg. Concurrently, the killer robot reaches New York City.
