Tangent Comics / Nightwing #1

Part of DC's ambitious 1997 Tangent Comics initiative — which reimagined familiar names as entirely new characters — this inaugural issue introduces a Nightwing unlike anything you've encountered before. Jan Duursema's cover assembles a striking cast: a long-haired, eye-patched figure at the center, surrounded by a snarling werewolf-like beast lunging from above, a black-suited woman in mid-leap, a monstrous green creature with gaping jaws, and two additional threatening faces lurking at the edges. Written by John Ostrander with art by Duursema, "The Most Dangerous Man in the World" promises a tone as wild and unpredictable as that cover full of teeth and shadows.
