“I Journeyed Back to the 20th Century!”

In "I Journeyed Back to the 20th Century!", a 31st-century burglar sentenced to lifelong isolation escapes aboard an automated rocket, believing he’s fled his fate—only to find himself hurtling through time toward Earth in the 20th century. Bob Forgione’s art, with Stan Goldberg’s colors and Artie Simek’s lettering, brings this bold sci-fi premise to life, while Jack Kirby’s cover captures the era’s signature dynamism, inked by Christopher Rule.

A burglar in the 31st century is sentenced to lifetime solitary confinement. He is taken to a spaceport, where he escapes in an automated rocket that will never return to Earth, thinking that he has evaded the sentence and might one day land on another planet. This was the plan all along, since this enlightened society leaves even the worst criminals hope.
