"Benton's Luck" follows Peter Benton, a man who survives multiple catastrophic accidents unharmed, leading him to believe he possesses extraordinary luck or possibly alien origins, though his newfound celebrity status eventually turns people against him. "Diamonds from Moonport" depicts a salesman named Henry Knapp who encounters a lunar ambassador in a bargain basement, purchasing a vacuum bottle marketed as a diamond from the Moon's dark side, which he later attempts to sell to finance his dreams. "The Lonely Ones" is set in Spain, where the Mysterious Traveler meets a lonely guitarist and a woman, exploring themes of isolation and human connection in a small mountain town.
Peter Benton has always been extraordinarily lucky—so lucky that circumstances bend themselves to grant his every wish, whether he deserves it or not. But when whispers begin to follow him, suggesting his luck is anything but natural, Peter spirals into fear and despair, convinced he must be something inhuman. His phenomenal fortune becomes a curse he'll do anything to escape, leading him to a surprising discovery about the true nature of his gift.
Pete is a hunting dog caught between a cruel, abusive master and an old woodsman deep in the frontier wilderness—and a legend about raccoons that may not be what it seems. When the hunter's contempt finally pushes Pete's patience to its limit, a night in the woods becomes a test of whether the old man of the forest's revenge is real, or just fear taking hold in the dark.
A con artist peddling fake medicine rolls into the Mexican village of Tia Quanto, only to be called out by El Padre, a mysterious healer who offers Pete a chance at redemption—if he'll mix a genuine cure-all formula and leave town by morning. When Pete's greed gets the better of him, the consequences catch up fast, and a miraculous encounter with the healer sets him on an unexpected path that changes everything.
In the mountain village of El Tecora, Spain, Manoel Periera discovers he possesses a mysterious power—the ability to hear people's thoughts and speak directly into their minds. When the townspeople learn of his gift, fear spreads like wildfire, and Manoel finds himself shunned and accused of witchcraft, even losing the woman he planned to marry. The Mysterious Traveler guides us through Manoel's struggle as his curse threatens to make him a permanent outcast, until a desperate situation forces the village to see his power in a new light.
