Swords of Sorrow #3
The third chapter of Gail Simone and Sergio Dávila's six-part Dynamite series brings the tension to a fever pitch, with cover artist Tula Lotay depicting a red-haired warrior and a dark-caped swordswoman locked in a fierce mid-air struggle atop a rearing horse — while an enormous, snarling beast lunges from the desert below with jaws wide open. Lotay's loose, painterly style gives the whole scene a kinetic, almost dreamlike urgency that perfectly suits a story about women warriors pulled across worlds and eras. At the halfway point of the miniseries, this issue promises the kind of breathless action that makes Swords of Sorrow one of 2015's most compelling crossover events.
