This issue contains two romantic stories. "Shadow of a Life" depicts a woman who, after Howard swept her off her feet, realizes she may have made a mistake by accepting his marriage proposal, as she truly loves someone named Bruce; the story follows her internal conflict as she complies with Howard's wishes despite her deeper feelings. "Speedy and Me" tells of a girl named Cathy who dismisses a boy called Speedy as a dope, but after he passes his exams and demonstrates his intelligence, she reconsiders her opinion and agrees to see him at a rally. A third story, "Love Is an Equalizer," involves a woman choosing between a man of modest means and one who prefers to lead his own life rather than be controlled by ambition.
