# Sweet Sixteen #6 (June 1947) This issue is an anthology featuring multiple stories for teenage girls. "Who Tickled the Ivories?" is a mystery story in which three Hamilton High School girls—Marion Stevens, Gertrude Van Buren, and Verna Leatherman—are selected by Miss Dempsey to volunteer at the City Orphan Home playing piano for children's singing and music appreciation lessons, with the challenge being to determine which girl is best suited for the work. "The Story of Dick Haymes" is a biographical feature about the famous singer's early career struggles, including his work as a songwriter and vocalist who was rejected by band leaders before eventually becoming one of the nation's top vocalists.
