The story follows the return of Alec Holland's Swamp Thing as he investigates a series of bizarre murders in the Louisiana bayou, where the dead are mysteriously rising from their graves. It's a standalone horror tale that explores the darker corners of the DC Universe's supernatural side.
In "Fateful Reunion!", Swamp Thing finds himself at a crossroads when Matt Cable returns with a powerful mystic artifact from Nanda Parbat, carrying the fragile hope of reversing his transformation. With Zatanna’s arcane expertise, the two must navigate the perilous magic of the relic, risking everything to unlock a long-lost chance at humanity—before the darkness within him claims what remains.
In "Be Careful What You Wish For!", Swamp Thing—now Alec Holland again—struggles to reclaim his identity while mentoring Matt Cable, the man who now wears the mantle of the Swamp Thing. As Alec teaches Matt to harness his new powers, he begins to suspect that his protégé’s intentions are far from pure.
In "Emerald Apocalypse!", a fractured Swamp Thing stands at the edge of ruin, demanding the world surrender to his will, while Alec Holland races to Nanda Parbat with the help of the Phantom Stranger, Deadman, and the Spectre—each a ghost of power and purpose—seeking a way to stop the green tide before it consumes all.
