“A Measure of Faith, Chapter Two”

This Vertigo chapter of Joshua Dysart and Timothy Green II's run presents a quietly unsettling image courtesy of cover artist John Totleben: a pale, blonde woman kneels with her back to us, arms open, facing a massive, bark-and-root creature looming out of the darkness above her — the tension between her apparent vulnerability and the sheer scale of the elemental figure behind her is genuinely gripping. Totleben's painted-style rendering gives the scene a deep, atmospheric chill, with coiling tendrils framing the composition on either side. "A Measure of Faith, Chapter Two" promises a story somewhere between communion and confrontation, and this cover alone makes a compelling case for picking it up.
