About this Collection

This collection gathers the 2018 miniseries exploring alternate versions of Superman's home planet across the DC multiverse. Written by Jeff DeFalco and illustrated by various artists, each issue presents a different Krypton—from a world where Jor-El and Lara survived to one where Krypton never exploded. The volume ties into DC's broader multiverse mythology while offering standalone tales of the Man of Steel's heritage.

"Jor-El's Golden Folly" presents a haunting origin tale from Superman’s homeworld, where Kryptonian archaeologists unearth a mysterious globe revealing a forgotten war between two factions, Erkol and Xan. Written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated with striking detail by Dave Cockrum, the story follows the exiled children of Erkol—born with unusual traits and hidden telekinetic powers—as they return to a city reborn from their past, only to find their world forever changed. The cover, a striking collaboration by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano, captures the weight of this ancient legacy.

Kryptonian archaeologists uncover a globe which contains the story of the war between Erkol and Xan. After Xan detonated a bomb, hostilities ceased, but all babies conceived on that day in Erkol were born without thumbs but with enlarged heads. Years later, these children, who had been exiled, discovered that they had also been born with telekinesis. When the children learned that war had resumed and that Erkol was threatened by a doomsday weapon, they attempted to return home to stop the device, but Erkol was destroyed. So the children returned to their city, which they named Kryptonopolis.
