Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #56
In "The Son of Jimmy Olsen!", the latest chapter in the Olsen family saga sees Jimmy Olsen, Jr. and Lola Kent ready to marry—only to face a roadblock from Lola’s father, Clark Kent, who fears their union might be doomed by Lola’s latent powers. Determined to prove himself, Jimmy Jr. concocts a serum that grants him superpowers, even sharing it with Lola’s mother, Lois, who gains abilities of her own. But just as the couple prepares to elope, Lex Luthor throws a wrench into their plans with a sinister wedding gift that strips them of their powers. Written by Jerry Siegel and illustrated by Kurt Schaffenberger, with a striking cover by Curt Swan and John Forte, this 1961 classic blends romance, sci-fi, and superhero antics in a way only DC could deliver.

Jimmy Olsen, Jr. and Lola Kent fall in love and wish to get married. Lola’s father, Clark Kent, says “no” to the marriage due to concerns that Lola has superpowers and Jimmy Olsen, Jr. does not. Despite Lola’s parents opposing the marriage, Jimmy Jr. and Lola elope, but only after Jimmy Jr. has crafted a serum that gives him superpowers. In addition, Jimmy Jr. shares the serum with Lola’s mother, Lois, who also gains superpowers. Lex Luthor, however, gums up the works with a wedding “gift” that robs Jimmy Jr. and Lois of their newfound abilities.
