Superman Adventures #14

This December 1997 issue of Superman Adventures features one of the most striking covers in the series — a bold, graphic composition by Rick Burchett (pencils) and Terry Austin (inks) that places Superman's calm profile in stark contrast against a looming, shadowy figure with glowing yellow eyes and a sinister grin. The animated-series aesthetic is in full effect here, using deep blacks and sharp negative space to create genuine tension between the two faces. With Mark Evanier writing and Neil Vokes on interior art, "Stop the Presses!" looks like a compelling read for fans of the Superman: The Animated Series style.
