Part of DC's sweeping Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, this December 1985 issue delivers a cover — penciled and inked by Eduardo Barreto — that crackles with chaos and anguish. Superman appears in multiple vignettes across the image: cradling a fallen blonde woman, fending off green-skinned purple-clad attackers, straining against a massive golden cross-like structure, and lying prone on the ground, while a towering ghostly face of Superman looms in the background crying out "No… No! I Can't Take It Anymore!" A red-and-green costumed hero stands amid the fray as well, making this one of the more visually dense and emotionally charged covers of the era, with interior work by the celebrated team of writer Elliot S! Maggin, artist Curt Swan, and inker Al Williamson.
